AAAAAYYYYOOOOO!!!! :o

Just thought this needed to happen at some point, for everyone still down with rocking midi channels out the MPC.

I have the 2000, and the 6000.

Feel free to ask questions here... advice, routing, tips and tricks, anything...

if some people in here still get hot on the rack gear, then here we go.

I got a question on controlling my 6000...

Is it a matter of setting each sound to a key via keygroups? so that you can have a whole chopped drum break on one program, all controlled off of one midi channel... im pretty new here.

also, is it advisable, possible, to control the s-series from multiple sources... i.e. two mpc's.

ill have more questions as i go

Thanks

This has been discussed here before, but I've found conflicting answers. I want to know which of the S series samplers sounds the closest to the MPC3000. I think it's either the S2000, S2800, or one of the S3000 ones, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer. Judging by the release date, it's possibly the S2000, but I don't know. All I know is I love the way an MPC3000 sounds, but I don't have the loot for one.

the dope thing about the s3000xl is it is expandable :)

See this is what confuses me, though... According to vintagesynth.com the S2000 dropped in 1995, and then the S3000 series came in 1996... We all know the MPC3000 actually dropped before the MPC2000/2000XL, so that doesn't make any sense...

its the architecture though, not release date.

the same reason that s2000 output boards and eb16 effect cards fit in the 2000xl... same motherboard, hence same sound.

I am pretty sure that the s3000xl has the same motherboard as the 3000... but i have never had one apart.

and from what I gather the s5000 and s6000 are identical except for the removable front plate.. am I right? also, dont they hold a max of 256MB ram? I only played with an s6000, but never the 5000.

Proud owner of an 3000XL here. Never compared the sound to an MPC3000 but to my ears the 3000XL makes my drums sound punchier and I desire it over my MPC1000.
