REASON & MPC TUTORIAL VIDEO!

That information was helpful; however, I'm running into another problem with my Reason 2.5...

When I have ReDrum playing as my only module, everything is fine.

When I add another module (i.e.: NN19 or NN-XT); the sound from the additional module plays with ReDrum.

ex: Create --> Redrum: I'll press a pad on my MPC it will trigger the corresponding sound (i.e: Kick). (no prob)

prob: Create --> NN19 (so now, I'll have Redrum on Ch1 and NN19 on Ch2... Now, when I press that same pad (assigned to Redrum); it plays the kick, as well as which ever sound is assigned to the NN19 (i.e. - Heavy Guitar). (NN19 plays perfectly by itself on its assigned channel (Ch2), but is also playing on Ch. 1 with Redrum.) (Also, if I go to the mixer and MUTE Ch 2, the sound does not play on Ch 1.)

Have you (or anyone reading) encountered this problem? If so, please advise on how to correct this.

Set it up the way he explained above. Now, in the sequencerlanes, make sure midi recording is only enabled for the track with the device you want to record at the time. Its the little midi logo with a red dot next to it. If you are hearing the redrum when you are playing another device, maybe the redrum's sequencer track is set to receive midi. Try that and let me know if it works.

just another quick question

i have my midi keyboard going into my mpc then into reason, using the mpc for sampling and reason as a sound module. now i am trying to track everything out to Cubase SX 2, however i can't seem to figure out how to rewire the channels correctly. I have tried searching and looking in the manuals, however, i can't seem to get it to work still.

make sure you have the MIDI TRACKS on your MPC set up too, 1A, 2A etc.
this will remove simulataneous play back.

If your recording inn Reason then yes. but for MPC this aint necessary. U just have to make sure your channels are set correctly.

Aster, that red dot is on versions 2.0 and 2.5. on 3.0 it looks like a keyboard.

Pen, that's what i'm talking about. looks good and it seems like you covered everything. if people still have problems with Reason and the mpc, i don't know what to say.

sounds like something is not set up on the mpc properly. try checking the midi channels on the mpc

This should be a sticky!! It would be nice to have guides like this for hooking up your mpc to common hardware and software! The MPC is the core of the set-ups we are using, and It seems like most of the people on these boards are using some what the same products to construct music (logic, protools, triton, reason, motif, cubase, roland, emu racks, etc...).

A friend of my just got reason a couple of days ago to use with his MPC..found this post this morning, printed the steps that Penfold posted, tried it, and it worked!!!! The basic steps he had worked!

Like wise for how to use recycle with the MPC! and midi your triton to you MPC!!

Really feel that there should be a sticky post, or guide available for this such as the mpc2000xl tutorial!

Plus, you go to the logic, protools, triton forums, etc... And you dont get to much info!
