I'll re-phrase my question mpc 1000 micokorg midi

ok, aaaaaaalllll I want to do is make a beat using sounds from my mpc 1k's internal memory, THEN, I'd like to use my Microkorg to put down a bass line, then on a 2nd track i'd like to add a piano or something. (via midi) IS THIS POSSIBLE????!?!?!? even if you say no i'll be happy cos then I'll atleast i'll be able to sleep.

the problem i'm getting is as follows, so, I lay down my drums, all good, I go to track 2, turn on midi, I lay down my bass line, all going great so far, then I go to track 3 on my mpc, all still great, but then as soon as I change from say a hip hop setting on my microkorg to say dnb or something, the bass line from my hip hop setting in track 2 will all of a sudden go to whatver setting I selected for track 3 (dnb)

I haven't updated to a jj OS, would this give me an option of a record while in play? I belive it's called audio ins.....this would do the job but i'd really rather do it via mida cos as you know the arperg will all lock in time etc....

I'd be totally gratefull if you can all chip in and help me.

I even bought that book by andy something on the 1k tips and techniques an i've read it about 5 times so i'm totally clued up on everything but this grrrr

If I am not mistaken this happens because you change the program on the microkorg, you would be better off sampling the bass, that would open up the microkorg to play the other sound.

I forgot to ask one more question, if what I asked isn't possible then I would imagine the best way for me to go would be a software program right? which one do you guys reccomend?

thanks loads for you reply but if I first sample the bass oppose to using midi I wont get the things such as pan sweeps in time with the beat an it'll sound messy. unless of course I want to sample a stright up bass line but I like to get adverturous.

No it is possible but you need to change your thinking, your microkorg is only cappable of playing one sound at the time, so by sampling it and using that bass sample for track 2, you then can use the dnb sound on track 3... If you think you want more sounds of your korg to go with the tune, just sample the fuk out of it, till you have a nice collection of sounds.

I do not understand why you think it would work with a software sequencer.

Fair enough, then you will need another synthesizer or maybe a something as reason wich you can hookup with midi to your current setup.

hey, don't worry I wasn't talking about JUST using software .....I was more thinking along the lines of this....so I make the body of the song in the mpc, then I record that shit into something like soundforge or cubase an then that will give me the opportunity to add as many tracks into the software program from my microkorg as I want.

another question, does the jj os upgrade enable audio track record, like can I record in real time going over the top of the beat like you can on a 2500? cos that would solve all my problems, even my tiny penis wouldn't be a problem anymore

Hes probably using 2 different sequencers. Theres a dude Anchorsong, who uses the MPC and Korg triton, and he plays numerous different sounds at the same time. I use the MPC 1000 and Korg R3 synth, and I can only use one sound at a time from the R3, I know how frustrating it can be. For a live session, it is hard, but you can record a song using Recording software if you are doing it like that.

If you want to get a synth with loads of options and a one of a kind sequencer... get a monomachine

when I asked this question why didn't someone just say, upgrade to jj os and use the audio tracks....what the fook. this works perfect now! boom.
