Nice post ..Yea that kit definately seems worth it.. You think Akai would have done this from the begining to keep thing consistent with all other models//I'll be driving to VST next week to pick up my kit..

the pads on the 2500 are totally different dimensions. the 500 and the 1000 have the same sized pads - but the 500 has less pads than the 1000.

well, i'm glad we at least got akai to get this pad fix out to us after starting this topic a year ago. it's been a long wait, but it's been worth it.
between the new pads and the jj os, the 1k is unstoppable! 8)

atleast they shaped up and offered the new pads allthough it would've been nice if they where properly built from the start.
i ended up with a far more versatile secondhand drummachine than i bargained for and even with the new pads it ended up with a reasonable pricetag.
belive they call it marketrecovery in the manufacturingbusiness.
it would've been easy just to discontinue the whole production and leave the 1k owners out in the cold.
i'm glad they didn't and i'm happy akai actually took notes

Good points. Everyone is so busy being mad at akai for charging $180 for the new pads that they forgot that akai could have just said "screw it" and not done anything at all. Personally, I am grateful that they now offer the new pad design. A lower price would have been nice, considering that anyone buying the new pads are buying them to replace pads with a flawed design. I think they should have offered them to previous mpc owners at much less of a markup, and then generated their profits by marking up MPCs manufatured with the new pads, but oh well, at least we got pads.
