Program templates?

Need to learn how to set up my key span, just wondering if anyone has any pre-made programs that I can follow as a guide?

Nope, I never got em, the sample cd or whatever it was I was supposed to get.. "I have read the manual" there Buddy! Just want to see if Im doing everything correct... A little bit of "extra" information.. So next time use your resources better then to send me a foolish response D Manual.. or something like that was it?, ..anyways.. Thanks but no thanks, gee? Someone should be able to hook you up with the pre-installed programs that came with the 4000, although it wont be me. I do remember seeing the information on what was included in these programs posted around here before, but that was some time ago. But it was a mix of drums and multi-sampled instrument programs from the Akai library, including the older MPC's demo programs.

Well I am at home now so have the CD-R in front of me.

The "Demo 16M" folder is Akai's factory demo for the MPC4000 (~16MB in size) - it's in that cheesy jazz-muso style that I'm sure we'll all groan at. It's got a multi, a bunch of programs (drums, piano, bass, strings, thunder... and a sequence to play them.

The "Drums" folder has a few kits in - they're all fairly pristine and recorded (on an MPC4k? I dunno) with clarity... not quite my bag, but I guess it's always easier to scuzz up a clean sound than it is to clean up a grotty one.

The "GM Sounds" folder has samples for the General MIDI stock sounds, both drums, keys and instrument sounds. If you really need that General MIDI "goblins" patch well here's on for you...

The "Keyboard sounds" folder was the one I found the most useful - it's got some very usuable Wurlitzer & Fender Rhodes electric piano samples, a selection of MiniMoog and ARP Odyssey ones, a Hammond B3 and an acoustic guitar. If you're an analogue knob twiddler like me, you will scoff somewhat at static samples of a Hammond or a minimoog, where you can't tweak the sound like on the real instrument, but nonetheless, these instruments sound so good that even a static sample of them can be musically useful (and you can modulate it more with the MPC4000's sampler engine) - the "miniMoog No.9" one a rather thick 3VCO unison blast that I've used myself on a few tracks. The Wurlitzer too.

Finally the "Thunder" folder seems to just be the same thunder that is already in the "Demo 16M" folder, the fact that it's duplicated at top level just to me showed the sort of shoddy arse-from-elbow guff that was going on at Akai back in 2002....

On my 4K's harddrive back in 2002 (UK retailer), I also got:
- "24 bit drums" - the only samples that were actually 24 bit in the whole library!
- The Akai S5/S6k Vol1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and "spendid piano" and "splendid drum" libraries.
- the "MPC Vol. 1" library that came with the MPC3000XL, which includes all the factory sounds for the MPC60, MPC3000 and MPC2000.

My 4000 came with all the pre-installed goodies mentioned by feline1. You cant complain when they are FREE.

clint246clint.. Thanks pal.. Glad you could help, I appreciate it, although I did find the link yesterday, I didnt load up everything till this morning.. I have gotten to dig through it to much, Im messing with it now as a matter of fact. There is defiantly some great info here for me. Yeah your right there is some pretty decent samples to work with too! I got a ton of shit, sample wise anyway, its always good to have more though.. So, sorry I had to write back like that, I may be new here at actually asking questions on the forum itself, But really I have had an MPC4000 since early 03. I've just dove into it not knowing ANYTHING, set out on my own tunnel vision venture.. So I've come to understand it a lot better through the years, I really need to know everything outside of my little box, ya know. I've been reading this forum on and off for at least four or five years, who knows, maybe even longer? I know who the TOP HEADS are here, and I know allll about Feline1 and how he can be, But if you ask me I don't mind, the guy is brilliant.. He has right to be.. So when I asked the question, all I got was this answer, to, Loook, yep, in the manual! All is well mate! My question has been answered, I got what I needed, and I met a friend. Later man ..take care oh yeah? What to you use the 4000 primarily for if you don't mind me asking?

Cool man. I use my 4000 mainly for its sequencer together with Logic. But Im hoping to start flipping samples again soon, if I can get me a 1210 anytime soon.

Nice, me too.. Same set up.. I just need a good audio interface Geeze, its killin me not havin one.. But I get around for now with the usb cable. I dream of the day I can sync it all together! Soon brotha soon!! Basically I'll just make everything on the AKAI, and use Logic for all the sounds and plug-ins. Works good :/ could be better right! Oh well, I need to start workin more hours or somethin!! Damn

I shipped out a few of them in the past. but, since the whole thing can be DL'd from some places, there is no need for them.

ah yes i have these cheesy programs somewhere. they re too corny to even put on the mpc
