what are you willing to give up? code space is limited and something has to go to bring back something old. just saying be specific if you want results

current os2xl size: 994KB
space for os2/os2xl: just under 5 mb

PLEASE know what you're talking about before posting
the 1mb os space limitation is for akai os, 3.0x, and jj os1
nothing needs to go for new features. the reason things change is the same reason you can't pull the middle pancake out of a stack of 10 without disturbing the others

Simult Shmimult!

Downsides to 2xl:

Being able to use one q link at a time and only one per programme instead of a pad. (2500 owners must be gutted, having those nice 4 q-links to twiddle with)

Also not being able to audition and scrub the end of a sample. A real pain especially if you are dealing with long audio tracks.

Plus points:

The inclusion of crossfade loop means my two 950's are gathering dust! (sadly there is still a bug as when you set zero crossings in loop and go back to prg it still clicks. However, works fine if you hit pgm mode when in Trim/Loop)

Quantise strength!

Divide and add chop zones in Trim

I agree with the comments on here about the MPC being a stand alone unit. I can do anything with a computer and basically have used computer sequencers for years since the Atari. I got the MPC to get away from all that loading Zips, floppys, computer files, hooking up loads of through MIDI leads etc etc.....................it's refeshing to have one little box with one power supply that nearly does it all and is totally portable!

Whether its removing features or "disturbing" certain others in the pancake stack that represent our features, basically just bring back simult. We're all really happy for you and your boo, battery, but I want to use my mpc for making beats. I want my cake and eat it too!!

BTW, its really sad that even with all that s**t you got, ur beats still suck, smh

Captin Murph.....chill we understand your stress that simult isnt how it was ....but we need to keep this thread straight forward ....no insulting people.... we need to come together as an intelligent unit and express our concerns about our mpcs not how bad or good someone's beats are.... I understand simult was causing problems for jj thats why changed it .....but I mean I feel if there was more work done he would have success ....keep the emails up and keep them informative ....if there is programmers not even getting PAYED to put super nes on my iphone or a sequencer for that matter ,os x on my lenovo s10, vlc,ps1 games, supuernes on my psp, ......then jj can put simult on my mpc the right way ....its just a matter of if jj will wanna work out that kink ..or just take out what ever simult was effecting ....which probably is the stupid chord tracks or bullshit arp..... I v already emailed jj hope everyone else can do the same

poise, not battery.

my beats still suck? you're not gonna find too many people who agree with you on that point.

calll out thread is in the my music section, not the jjos1000/2500 section. try your luck there if you've stretched your britches.

not a bad idea in the slightest, savillion
i'm drafting my bug report as we speak actually.

and linking to this thread.

lengthy new post in the bug report - i pinned down the MONO xfade problem!!!

here are some hilights

hey there, nym again. it's been a while since my last report.
-------------

bug: mono sample will not be crossfaded in playback.

1- load a mono sample
2- enter trim
3- turn sample to LOOP ON, XFADE
4- NOTE: in TRIM, crossfade works.
5- hit PGM MODE and assign the sample to pad A01.
6- in TRIM PGM MODE, play the pad.
7- BUG: mono sample is not crossfaded.
----------------------------------------------------

workflow issue: in TRIM, SCRUB does not work for END POINT.

it was discussed some months ago regarding the SCRUB of END POINT in TRIM. i still believe that it is more useful to be able to hear the SCRUB of END POINT when a user's cursor is on END POINT. users have commented on this on the forums.

----------------------------------

workflow issue: simult.

it is still discussed in the forum that the big problem with os2xl is that there is no behavior for OLD SIMULT.

users are frantic about this. it is agreed that this is a severe limitation for users who do not use additional equipment. although i use additional equipment, i agree 100% that OLD SIMULT is essential for DRUM LAYERING. OLD SIMULT is the only way for a user to achieve multiple filters/ADSR for a simultaneous pad playback. NEW SIMULT requires a good deal of re-recording and editing.

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=114727&p=1048620#p1048620
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=111976

the best scenario would be an option for NEW SIMULT mode (both notes are recorded) and OLD SIMULT mode. i do not know if this is possible.

-------------------------------

workflow request: ?+data wheel = change sequence.

"mode+data wheel = change track" is extremely useful and very very quick.
i desire greatly the addition of "?+data wheel = change sequence."
i do not know the best button for this action.
perhaps NUMERIC or REC or OVERDUB?

i know the focus is on JJ sequencer now but i can't help myself.

nym your the dopest ! makes me feel like we are making good progress on this issue. and that reassurance that we are trying to get this feature back is a big plus!
By dtaa pla muk Fri May 22, 2009 10:22 pm
savillion: let's make this the "email jj with simult wishes" sticky. can you please edit the thread title of this one to something like "os2xl: plea for old simult behavior" or something clear/concise?

also mention in the first thread edit your thought that folks should report the simult behavior to jj (don't put his email, but suggest that folks use the bug report, preferably with a bug report to sweeten the deal)

anythign else you wanna say in the 1st post would be good too, make it flashy and try to explain that it's been re-edited after the discussion we've had in this thread.

while you're at it, request the old Q-LINK behavior be returned (dual q-links active & recordable simultaneously, with all the old stuff from os 2 still tweakable).

if JJ fixed this, i would be 100% on board with 2xl.

i still like my old suggestion:
MODE + ARROW UP/DOWN = change sequence
MODE + ARROW LEFT/RIGHT = change simult sequence
